Pool Chemical Safety

Pool chemicals are safe when used properly but can be very dangerous if you don't know how to use them. If you choose to add chemicals to your pool water yourself, keep the following safety tips in mind:

• Keep all chemicals in their labeled containers and follow all label instructions.
• Keep chemicals out of the reach of children.
• All chemicals should be added directly to pool water. Never pour water into a container with the chemical already in the container.
• Do not mix any chemicals together.
• Do not mix different types of chlorine together. Do not put any type of chlorine into a container that has held a different type of chlorine-it can cause an explosion.
• Wash hands thoroughly after handling chemicals.
